Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Apple entered the low-cost 5G smartphone market with the launch of the iPhone 12 Mini. But its presence will face resistance from the Samsung Galaxy A42.
Apple itself predicted the iPhone 12 mini to be the lightest, thinnest, and smallest 5G smartphone in the world. Meanwhile, Samsung calls the Samsung Galaxy A42 the cheapest Samsung mobile phone with 5G technology. How do the two 5G smartphones compare? Check out below:
iPhone 12 Mini
Compiled from Apple’s website, the iPhone 12 mini has a 5.4-inch display with Super Retina XDR Display (OLED) and weighs only 135 grams.
At the top of the screen, you can find Apple’s distinctive wide notch that has been around since the iPhone X. This houses the selfie camera and the Face ID biometric sensor. The camera uses a 12MP sensor.
The iPhone Mini will be driven by the A14 Bionic which is claimed to have 40% faster performance than its predecessor. This chipset is combined with 64GB, 128GB and 256GB internet memory.
On the back of the iPhone 12 Mini, two rear cameras are attached. Namely a camera with a 12 MP wide sensor and a 12 MP ultra wide camera. This camera features Night Mode, Deep Fusion and HDR.
In addition, the new iPhone is equipped with WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5 and NFC technology. There are five color variants of this smartphone. Namely, Black, White, PRODUCT RED, Blue, and Green.
iPhone 12 Mini 64 GB storage is sold for US $ 699 or the equivalent of Rp. 10.3 million (assuming Rp. 14,700 / US $). 128 GB of storage for US $ 749 (Rp. 11.1 million) and 256 GB of storage for US $ 849 (Rp. 12.6 million).
Pre-orders for the iPhone 12 Mini starting November 6, 2020 and officially sold on November 13, 2020.
Samsung Galaxy A42 5G
Compiled from the Samsung website, the Galaxy A42 smartphone has a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED screen with HD Plus resolution. This brand-new smartphone weighs 190 grams.
On the top of the phone, there is a small ‘U’ bangs as Samsung’s latest tie design. This is the place for a selfie camera with a 20 MP sensor.
The Samsung Galaxy A42 is powered by the Snapdragon 750G and has an integrated Snapdragon X52 5G 5G modem chip. Its performance will be supported by 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory; 6GB RAM and 128GB internal memory; and 8GB RAM with 128GB of internal memory.
Camera sector. The Samsung Galaxy A42 has four rear cameras. The main camera has a wide sensor 48 MP. Followed by an 8 MP ultrawide camera, a 5 MP macro camera and a 5 GB depth camera.
This new Samsung phone is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery with 15W fast charging. This phone comes in four color variants. Namely: Prism Dot Black, Prism Dot White, Prism Dot Gray.
This phone will be released on November 5 in the UK with prices starting from 369 euros or the equivalent of Rp. 6.4 million. There is no information on whether the cellphone will be brought to Indonesia.
