The year 2020 will almost certainly be the year that Apple will embrace 5G. It is almost certain that the manufacturer is new iPhone 12 with 5G. However, there have also been rumors about various 4G variants for months. Recent rumors have mentioned two 4G models, but according to a new report, only one will appear, and then again only in 2021.
The news comes from a Wedbush Securities analyst speaking to Business Insider. They originally made the claim that we could expect two 4G models in addition to the 5G versions, but after a recent check with the supply chain in Asia, they have come back. A single 4G model is now expected in early 2021, February to be exact.
A second 4G iPhone 12 has not yet been ruled out, but judging from Wedbush Securities’ story, we shouldn’t be too hopeful.
It’s not all bad news: one of the analysts expects that the 5G iPhone 12 models will not be more expensive in terms of price than the iPhone 11-series. According to Wedbush, a 5G iPhone does not have to be completely priceless.
New iPhones in the making?
at least some iPhone 12 models should be almost here as Foxconn (the main iPhone manufacturer) has started a major hiring process for the iPhone 12 assembly lines according to inews.qq.
This is something the company does every year, but this year it is seemingly starting a month later than usual. That’s no surprise, as there are many reports that the Covid-19 pandemic affected the production of the iPhone 12, and Apple itself has now said that the phones have been later will then normally go on sale.
Overall, we expect an announcement in September, but it’s not clear if that will be pushed back to October this year, or if the announcement will happen at the same time, but with a longer wait to buy the phones.
While it looks like you will have to wait a while before you can buy an affordable 4G version of the iPhone 12, of course you already have the option to buy the very affordable iPhone SE 2020 to bring home.
