iPadOS: Apple works on keyboard shortcuts to replace the function keys

The keyboards developed by Apple for the iPad, whether it is the Smart Keyboard, its Folio variant, or the Magic Keyboard, do not have function keys. It’s a shame that the manufacturer has sacrificed these keys on the altar of compactness because they are very practical, if only to quickly change the brightness of the screen, change the volume, go from one song to another.

It is all the more stupid that by using an iPad with a keyboard equipped with function keys – like the Magic Keyboard in Bluetooth -, these keys are perfectly supported by iPadOS. Of course, there are brightness settings (in Settings > Display and brightness), the tablet is equipped with volume buttons, and you can even change the backlight of the Magic Keyboard (Settings > General > Keyboard > Physical keyboard, phew).

But what complicated posturing for such simple functions! Apple has clearly understood that things have to be fixed. According to 9to5Mac, Apple board on keyboard shortcuts that could act as function keys. These shortcuts are not yet activated, and it is impossible to know if it will be possible to customize them (since iPadOS 13.4, the tablet allows change behavior special keys). From what we understand, we will not necessarily have to wait for iPadOS 14 to enjoy it…
