iPadOS 17 Rumors: Major Upgrades to Stage Manager Coming for iPad Pro

Apple is set to unveil its newest iPadOS 17 during the upcoming WWDC keynote. Rumors suggest that the iPad Pro will finally live up to its potential as a high-end productivity device with major upgrades to Stage Manager. The multitasking interface is said to come with several enhancements, including support for webcams built into external monitors, dock resizing on an external display, and the ability to run an external display while the iPad display is off. According to Analyst941, Apple is going all-in with Stage Manager as a pro-level productivity tool for the iPad Pro. The feature is supported on all models of the 11-inch iPad Pro and four generations of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

While this year’s Stage Manager update is interesting, the big iPadOS update that everyone has been waiting for is reportedly coming in 2024. Revegnus reports on Twitter that “many features from macOS are coming to iPadOS” in 2024. Apple is preparing to launch a 14.1-inch iPad Pro with an M3 Pro processor that will reportedly feature many of the higher-end features limited to models with the M1 processor and later, like Stage Manager’s external display support.

Analyst941 claims that Apple is finally going to release iPad versions of its popular pro apps, Final Cut Pro and Logic, in 2024 and 2025, respectively. The leaker claims that the version of Final Cut Pro for iPadOS “will be 1:1 to its big brother, along with a slightly modified UI to support touch.” The big changes are coming in 2024 with the next iPad Pro update and iPadOS 18. The WWDC keynote is on June 5, and we can expect more exciting announcements from Apple.
