Apple announced a host of new features coming to iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac at its WWDC conference in June 2023. Although iPadOS 17 has not brought major changes to the iPad this time, there are still some useful new features that enhance your experience on the Apple tablet, but does your iPad support upgrading to iPadOS 17?
Those models are compatible with iPadOS 17
The new features of iPadOS 17, in addition to the upgrades brought by iOS17, some are exclusive to iPad, such as interactive widgets, Stage Manager and so on. For iPadOS 17, Apple has kicked out three models that already support iPadOS 16 from iPadOS 17. The following iPad models are compatible with iPadOS 17:
● iPad Pro (2nd generation and later)
● iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
● iPad (6th generation and later)
● iPad mini (5th generation and later)
This means that if you have an iPad (fifth generation), iPad Pro 9.7-inch (first generation), or iPad Pro 12.9-inch (first generation) running iPadOS 16, iPadOS 17 will not be supported.
Not all iPadOS 17 features are available
Just because you own a compatible iPad doesn’t mean you’ll get everything iPadOS 17 has to offer. For example, iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation and later), iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation and later), iPad (10th generation), iPad Air (4th generation and later), or iPad mini ( 6th generation) to use the hand response function of the 3D augmented reality effect.
How to Find Your iPad Model
If you’re wondering which iPad you have, follow these steps:
Open Settings on your iPad, then select General, then About This Mac; tap in the Model Number section to change to an “A” code. Find the real model of your iPad model by Axxx code name.
