Unfortunately, it is important to take it into account in the price equation.
And to go further, I would add the Pencil which takes the iPad to another dimension.
And for having had iPads with and without Cellular, I would also add this option. Of course, that unbalances the comparison, but for those who want to use their iPad on the move, this is real progress, and can also be a barrier to buying a MacBook. Like the Smart Keyboard Folio, connection sharing with the iPhone is a troubleshooting, not a lasting solution on a daily basis. Of course if the iPad is only used at home in sofa mode, the question does not arise.
I have personally asked myself the question but I realize that I use my MacBook a lot (almost all the time) in a non-static way, I mean not placed on a table, a desk (to rephrase: in a sofa, in toilet, in bed … etc), so the keyboard / device connection is mandatory for me.
I will go further: I sold my iPad Pro because of the Smart Keyboard Folio (the Magic Keyboard did not exist yet), and the fact that I could not adjust the opening angle “of the screen” (like on a MacBook) or even the imbalance in terms of weight (the mass being in the screen on an iPad and not in the keyboard) made it too wobbly on the knees, in short for me ergonomic nonsense for a device supposed to be “mobile”, as for the weight in general (yet an 11 “) that the holding at arm’s length was quickly tiring (that’s why I continue to cherish the iPad Mini).
