iPad OLED: lightweight design and excellent image quality

According ETNews, Apple produces the final prototypes of iPads with OLED screens. The device will focus on a lightweight design and better image quality.

Prototypes are reportedly in production with Korean display manufacturing partners Samsung and LG Display, and allow Apple to undertake a series of tests. Apple is reportedly focused on giving the iPad OLED a lighter design and “unparalleled image quality,” aided in part by a dry-etching process that dramatically reduces screen weight.

The company is also believed to be developing a special coating to increase the display’s durability, necessitated by its lightness.

The first iPad models with OLED screens should be the Pro series, so we can expect an iPad Pro with 11-inch and 12.9-inch OLED panels. These devices will be launched in 2024.
