iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 2 are now vintage

The information has just fallen, the iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 2 have just joined the list of vintage products from Apple. Remember that the Apple brand considers its devices as such after between five and seven years of marketing. However, this does not prevent the company from providing services and spare parts according to the legal provisions applicable at national level.

Vintage listing helps pay homage to Apple’s history

As a reminder, the iPad mini 2 was released in 2013 and has an A7 chip, the same as the iPhone 5S, remind our colleagues from 9to5mac. On the other hand, it does not support Touch ID like the iPad Air 2 does.

Precisely, the latter was released at the end of 2014 and it has the A8X chip. The iPad Air 2 also embeds an M8 motion tracking chip that was offered on the iPhone 6 and 6 plus.

Remember that this classification in the Vintage category occurs regularly for products from the Cupertino company. Last January, for example, this was the case for the 2012 13” MacBook Pro, which was the brand’s last to include a CD/DVD drive.

This classification, if it is not really good news for those who are still equipped with these products, is also a mark of esteem on the part of Apple. The vintage list indeed includes very big names in its history, which makes it a sort of pantheon of its iconic devices.
