iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 2 are now obsolete

Apple has added the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 2 to its list of vintage and obsolete products. It’s been over five years since the devices last went on sale.

Apple’s list of obsolete products continues to grow as the years go by. Two new products complete this list, namely the second generation iPad Air and the second generation iPad Mini.

The marketing of the iPad Air 2 began in October 2014. This tablet will carry for the first time a borrowing sensor with TouchID functionality. It featured the A8X processor and was significantly thinner than the previous model.

On the other hand, the iPad Mini 2 is older than the iPad Air 2. Launched in November 2013, it was known by its nickname of iPad Mini Retina because of its 2048 x 1536 resolution screen. On the other hand, it does not support Touch ID like the iPad Air 2 does.

Apple decided to stop distributing these tablets around 2017. For this reason, they are now included in the list of vintage products from the apple brand.

What impact?

The addition of these two products has some impacts for the consumer. iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 2 owners can always count on Apple for service and parts for their older gadgets, as required by law.

However, repairs will still be subject to change, as repairing or servicing these devices will depend on Apple still having the necessary hardware parts.
