Apple will very soon place a product on its list of obsolete products: it is the iPad 4 which saw the light of day in 2012. The Mac mini which was unveiled in late 2012 is also considered obsolete by Apple.
However, the page on the Apple website which groups together old and obsolete products has not yet been updated, however Apple has informed its employees of the change via a memo, said the site MacRumors.
A product is considered obsolete by Apple when the end of its marketing dates back more than 7 years. In this case, Apple no longer provides hardware service for these products, with no exceptions. Also, Apple Authorized Service Centers cannot order parts for obsolete products.
Rest assured: your iPad 4 is not going to stop working for this. But if your tablet is damaged and you want to fix it, you have to go to a third party repairer or you have to do the repair yourself.
The iPad 4 was the first iPad that adopted the Lightning port that debuted in the iPhone 5 a few weeks earlier. The tablet embeds the A6X chip.
