On January 30, Bittrex, the world’s 10th largest crypto exchange after liquidity, announced that it would be listing IOTA.
Only the BTC / IOTA trading pair is currently available. The daily trading volume is still limited. According to Bittrex, it is currently around 0.54 Bitcoin, which corresponds to around $ 5,000. The media describe the IOTA News as a milestone.
Community is happy about the IOTA News
Even if the trading volume is (still) small, you are happy in the Tangle community. For its rank in the list of the largest cryptocurrencies, the coin has to suffer from an exceptionally small trading volume.
While the market capitalization makes up around 0.3% of all cryptocurrencies combined, the trading volume is only 0.01%. This is probably due to the fact that the majority of investors are concentrated in the German-speaking area or the popularity outside of Germany is minimal.
A higher number of exchanges that trade a certain cryptocurrency is conducive to its liquidity. More exchanges can serve more investors. The range is also higher.
Bittrex holds a “ask me everything” session
In an exclusive FMA meeting on January 30, interested parties had the opportunity to ask questions about the listing and the project in the Bittrex telegram group. The founders Dominik Schiener and David Sønstebø provided the answers.
The most important information from the FMA summarized:
- Coordicide is being worked on with 3 universities. The first prototype will be launched in the next few weeks. In the middle of the year, an incentive-controlled test network.
- This year you want to be ready for companies.
- Several large-format products are expected to launch this year.
- Financing is expected to include external sources of finance this year. So you want to get rid of the dependency of funding through IOTA coins.
- The adoption proceeds exponentially.
So far a strong year 2020
