How to Write Like a Journalist: 8 Tips – 2025 – MasterClass
Journalistic writing is the writing style news organizations use to assemble a story. A news story has a hierarchy of information, beginning with the main points at the top of the piece. News articles follow a specific set of guiding principles, like the Associated Press style (also known as AP style), for grammar and vocabulary.

Additional Information:
Io’s violent volcanic activity mainly comes from Jupiter’s powerful gravitational changes, namely tidal forces.Io is about the size of the moon, but is close to Jupiter and orbits in an elliptical orbit, completing a week every 42.5 hours. Due to the change in distance, Jupiter’s gravitational pull on io also changed, causing it to be constantly squeezed and stretched. The frictional heat generated by this deformation causes partial melting of Io’s interior, driving about 400 active volcanoes on the surface to erupt, becoming the most violent celestial body in the solar system.
Juno is a space probe launched by NASA in 2011. It aims to conduct in-depth research on the composition, gravity field, magnetic field, and polar magnetosphere of jupiter to explore the formation and evolution process. Juno’s infrared detection capability can observe an area of about 50 to 70 kilometers below Jupiter’s clouds. After the mission was extended, the team also used equipment to continuously study the four Galilean satellites of Jupiter: Io, Europa, and Wood. Ganymede and Callisto.
This observation showed that extremely strong infrared radiation appeared in the southern hemisphere of Io (see the first picture), showing huge volcanic hot spots, and the radiation intensity even saturated the Juno detector. Data shows that this area may contain multiple closely connected active hotspots, suggesting that… there might potentially be a huge magma reservoir system underground. The team estimates that the area of this unnamed hotspot is about 100,000 square kilometers, far exceeding the area of the Loki Patera lava lake where the record holder is also io is about 20,000 square kilometers. The total radiated power of the new hotspot exceeds 80 megawatts, showing that the eruption intensity is extremely amazing.
In addition to infrared detection data, the Juno Visible Camera also captures regional images. The team compared the past and present images and found that there was a notable change in the surface of Io, confirming this strong volcanic activity. Not only deepens our understanding of Io volcanic activities, it also provides key data for exploring geological activities of celestial bodies outside the earth. The subsequent observations of Juno will continue to reveal more unsolved mysteries of this satellite full of dynamic changes.
