Technologue.idJakarta – In the next few weeks, Apple will roll out a new software update for iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, Mac and more at its WWDC 2023 event. However, recent reports suggest that iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 will end support for some devices certain.

A future software update will end support for devices released between November 2015 and November 2017. iOS 17 will end support for some devices, including the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, first generation iPad Pro 9.7-inch and 12.9 inches, and the fifth-generation iPad.

However, some older devices will still receive rare support, such as the 6th and 7th generation iPad models with the A10 Fusion chip, and the second generation 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros with the A10X Fusion chip. This is because these devices do not have bootrom security vulnerabilities that Apple cannot patch.

If your device is included in the lost support list, you can still use your device as usual. However, you will no longer receive security updates or new features.

There’s nothing surprising about Apple’s decision to end support for older devices. This is because Apple wants to focus on developing software for the latest devices. However, compared to Android manufacturers, Apple still updates old devices well.
