iOS 17.2 Update Fixes Security Flaw Exploited by Flipper Zero Devices

Apple recently released the new iOS 17.2 update, which included some security and bug fixes for the system. However, among the corrections, a flaw that was being exploited by Flipper Zero devices was silently fixed.

It was recently discovered that iOS 17.1 and earlier could be subject to attacks via Flipper Zero, where third parties could carry out brute force attacks via Bluetooth, in order to overload the iPhone and cause it to lock.

This attack could affect practically all iPhones within a 50 meter radius of Flipper Zero. However, despite certainly causing inconvenience for users, the attack was relatively benign, as it only blocked the iPhone, and restarting it resolved the problem.

However, with iOS 17.2, Apple seems to have fixed this bug, and it can no longer be explored via Flipper Zero. Considering that it is a recent version of the system, users are certainly advised to update the system to ensure that they also use other important fixes.

Users can install the latest update via their device’s Settings, where it should be available – if they have not already done so, as the update has been available for a few days.
