Apple is fine-tuning its latest operating system and, despite some small issues, iOS 17.0.3 actually manages to improve the autonomy of the last three versions of the iPhone Pro. According to some tests carried out with these devices, the latest update of the operating system, in addition to fixing bugs that made the iPhones 15 burn out with fever, it even manages to beat Samsung’s top of the range when it comes to battery life. The iPhone has often been criticized for its relatively poor battery life compared to some Android devices. However, in recent years, Apple has listened to its users’ criticisms and improved this crucial point in its iPhones. Now, according to the most different tests among these ranges, the Cupertino company’s smartphone is already competing at the top of the market.
If, a few weeks ago, the iPhone 15 Pro Max was still behind the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the iOS 17.0.3 update, which regulates the heat emitted by the A17 Pro chip, allowed it to move into the lead. Furthermore, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro have also benefited from a substantial battery increase and are holding up better than Samsung’s smartphone.
iPhone 15 Pro Max beats Galaxy S23 Ultra in battery life
Following a battery life comparison carried out by the channel Mrwhosetheboss a few weeks ago, in which the iPhone 15 Plus came first, YouTuber TechDroider wanted to test the capabilities of the last three “Pro” iPhones in relation to Samsung’s top-of-the-range phone , the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
The difference here is that iOS 17.0.3 has been installed on Apple models, and that changes everything. The channel carried out a first comparison with iOS 17.0.2, before updating its iPhones.
The results are clear: the new version of iOS saves around 10% of battery life, that is, an hour on average. While the Galaxy S23 Ultra lasts 10 hours and 27 minutes before turning off, the three iPhones doubled this time with:
iPhone 13 Pro Max: 10:58 instead of 10:07 iPhone 14 Pro Max: 10:51 instead of 9:59 iPhone 15 Pro Max: 11:31 instead of 10:31
For the record, Apple’s tech specs page shows battery life for continuous audio and video playback sessions. According to the company’s numbers, the iPhone 15 Pro Max lasts for 25 hours of continuous video playback, compared to 20 hours for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Plus.
In the end, this number is not of great interest – who uses the iPhone for just one purpose?
Going back to testing, it’s fair to say that Apple has done an incredible job on this iOS 17.0.3 update, especially since, as we’ve seen, the performance of the A17 Pro did not suffer. The smartphone can run the latest AAA gameslike the highly anticipated Resident Evil Village, without batting an eyelid.
The battery of the iPhone 15 Pro Max will continue to be monitored, as with the next versions of iOS 17 already in the hands of programmers in beta versions, it is very likely that these values will be even better, as the applications that consume more energy may be more efficient. tuned as time passes.
