What could be next with iOS 16?
iOS 16- After seeing the release of iOS 15 and after that of the series iPhone 13We’re in the middle of the “.1” updates that have gradually refined the features we’ve been seeing since June, including iOS 15.2 and the upcoming iOS 15.3.
However, that doesn’t stop us from thinking about what the next version will be that we hope will be called iOS 16. Every release of iOS has brought better functionality to the table, be it with widgets or with dark mode. But Apple’s operating system could benefit from some new settings to better manage your daily use of your iPhone.
We have reviewed our iPhones to collect five features that we would like to see in iOS 16 next year; regardless of whether they are older or younger. But first, let’s go over when we expect it to arrive and which iPhones will be compatible.
RUMORS OF THE iOS 16 RELEASE DATE
Apple has followed a traditional schedule of announcing the latest iOS update in June at WWDC, followed by a release around September.
With iOS 15.2 soon to be available, Apple has focused on developing significant features through more “.1” updates. In previous years, we saw the trackpad appear in iOS 13.4, along with ProRes in iOS 15.1 in October of this year.
It would not be unreasonable to expect an iOS 15.7 at the time we see iOS 16 with more transcendent features, both for your iPhone and your iPad.
iPHONES THAT WILL SUPPORT iOS 16
With each new release of iOS, Apple tries to make it compatible with a wide variety of iPhone models. For example, iOS 15 supports iPhone 6S, which was introduced in 2015.
A filtration Early suggests (unsurprisingly) that the iPhone 6S (along with the iPhone 6S Plus and the original iPhone SE) will not have iOS 16. But that all devices starting with the iPhone 7 will incorporate it.
Sure, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to expect iOS 16 to be compatible with the iPhone 7 series at a minimum, but with some features probably restricted, mainly due to camera hardware limitations, or the chip that certain iPhone models carry.
Every iOS presentation comes with a core functionality, but also a bunch of minor enhancements. If you still have an iPhone 8 right now, chances are you’ll benefit from some of the little features of iOS 16 when it launches. Although you will most likely miss the most important feature that Apple announces.
WHAT DO WE WANT TO SEE?
We don’t know much about iOS 16 yet, but we have a good idea of what we want it to bring, with the following features topping our list.
CAMERA APP REDESIGN
The iPhone camera has undergone major renovations in recent years with the addition of more lenses and functionalities such as night mode and cinematic mode. However, this has meant that the camera app has started to feel overloaded. Accessing forced flash or exposure settings requires a few more swipes than we’d like, along with hidden gestures that don’t seem necessary.
With the impending release of iOS 15.2, we’re also about to see a new macro button appear, helping you more precisely set up those close-ups when needed. However, this is only for iPhone 13 series.
Starting over with the camera app could help new users take photos in a whole new way, as well as offering current users a new way of taking photos and videos.
It would not be unreasonable to think that Apple has more big plans for the cameras of future iPhone models, which will also mean new functions that we will activate and deactivate when necessary. Let’s look at an application redesigned for what came before, and that lays the foundation for what will come next.
QUICKNOTE PARA IPHONE

This is a feature that appears in iPadOS 15 and macOS 12 Monterey, where you can swipe from the bottom right corner and you can quickly write some notes, no matter where you are on the device.
There are many gestures you can do on an iPhone, so adding one more shouldn’t be difficult. Dragging from the lower right corner could bring up a note that you could write quickly and save for later.
Since the thumb is the main point of interaction with the smartphone, it is an easy advantage that can help you jot something down quickly. It will also save you the strain of your thumb, rather than looking for the Control Center at the top right and selecting the Notes icon.
HOME AUTOMATION WIDGETS

Since widgets underwent a makeover in iOS 14, along with the ability to place them anywhere on the home screen, some other apps haven’t come forward with offering their own widgets to help cut down on a few steps. An obvious example is the startup application.
Perhaps you have a variety of smart lights in your home that you use the app to help you control them. But you want to quickly turn on a light, you may experience a delay if you ask Siri, or if the app is unresponsive, which happens frequently (in our experience).
Having a widget on your home screen for your smart lights could help cut down on the steps you need to take to quickly turn on your bedroom lamp, rather than having to search for the Home app.
It’s a bit weird that there isn’t a widget for this yet. But we hope it arrives, not only for iOS 16, but also for future versions of macOS and iPadOS.
APPS AIR

If you have one of the AirPods peripherals or an AirTag, it can seem very difficult to try to handle each of them. AirPods settings are only accessible via Bluetooth from the Settings app, while AirTags settings are accessible through the Find My app.
Being able to manage them through a centralized ‘AirThings’ application could avoid a lot of confusion regarding the devices you have from Apple.
Third-party providers, such as Sony, release certain applications that can help you manage the hearing aids and more to better manage the features that they bring. Being able to do the same, without having to go to Bluetooth within the Settings app, could provide a lot of simplicity when using your devices.
BEST TOPIC CHOICES

Previously in 2019, we saw a flood of themes thanks to some new features that the Shortcuts app provided in iOS 13.
With Shortcuts, you can use the app to create launch commands for other apps, and place an icon of your choice on the home screen to do so. This has resulted in many themes available to iPhone users. YouTuber Marques Brownlee created a short guide to creating your own icons with Shortcuts.
However, iOS 16 could go further. A new category in the application store that allows you to download themes and select them within the Settings app. You could also choose different colors and sounds for notifications and set them as a separate theme that might also be available with Automations in the Shortcuts app.
Third-party developers may also make their own sounds and themes available. Although there would be restrictions on changing the icons of other applications, it could extend the individuality that users want from their devices.
