iOS 16.7.10 and macOS 13.6.9 are available for older iPhones and Macs

After iOS 17.6.1 on iPhone and iPad and macOS 14.6.1 on Mac, Apple is now offering iOS 16.7.10 (build 20H350) and macOS 13.6.9 (build 22G830) for download. This concerns iPhones, iPads and Macs that are not eligible for iOS 17 or macOS Sonoma.

What do iOS 16.7.10 and macOS 13.6.9 have in store for us? Well, not much, to be honest. Apple doesn’t go into details and is in charge of talking about various fixes. There aren’t even any fixes to plug security holes, that’s saying something. Apple usually takes advantage of these types of minor updates to strengthen security. But that’s not the case this time.

For your information, this is the first time that Apple has offered an XX10 update in… 13 years. Indeed, the previous one was iOS 4.2.10 and it was released in July 2011.

To update to iOS 16.7.10, go to Settings > General > Software Update. It’s available for iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPad 5, and iPad Pro (9.7-inch and 12.9-inch) 1st generation.

To update your Mac, go to System Settings > General > Software Update. You will see macOS 13.6.9 appear and can start its download. It is recommended to install the new versions to take advantage of the latest fixes.
