iOS 15.4 Update Reportedly Causes iPhone Battery Drain

Selular.ID – Earlier this week, Apple started rolling out iOS 15.4, alongside iPadOS 15.4, watchOS 8.5, macOS Monterey 12.3, tvOS 15.4, and HomePod Software 15.4.

Of these updates, the biggest highlight is the ability to unlock the phone using Face ID.

This update to the new Face ID feature only works on generation iPhone 13 and iPhone 12and what’s interesting is that this feature can read your face even if you’re wearing a mask.

However, the iOS 15.4 update will reportedly cause the iPhone battery to drain.

For some iPhone 12 and 13 users, iOS 15.4 might be a problem, and more and more people will be reporting poor battery life on that line of devices.

Outside of these devices, the iPhone 13 Pro Max reportedly only lasted half a day. Or an older iPhone 11 drains 80% battery power in 24 hours.

Of course, the problem of wasteful battery is undeniably expected to be resolved after the update. And sadly the iOS 15.4 update doesn’t seem like the ultimate solution to battery problems, although it does take care of 39 vulnerabilities fixes.

However, the report battery waste rate seems a bit high. Some users theorize that the reason behind the battery drain is because Apple has started using the 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate more frequently.

It sounds plausible, but that can’t be a complete explanation as only the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max have ProMotion, and these aren’t the only models affected.

As well as battery issues, the iOS 15.4 update also includes over 100 new emoji from the Emoji 14.0 set, a new voice option for Siri along with the ability to provide time and date information offline. EU Digital COVID Certificate support in vaccine cards in Apple Wallet, improved translations on Safari web pages with support for Italian and Chinese, improved Podcasts app, and more.
