iOS 15.4 Released, Can Open Face ID on iPhone When Wearing a Mask

Apple just released iOS 15.4 which users can download iPhone since last Monday. This update brings a myriad of new features, but the most anticipated is the option to unlock iPhone with Face ID even when wearing a mask.

iOS 15.4 is believed to be the last major update before Apple releases iOS 16 next fall. This update will be available for all iPhones compatible with iOS 15, which means iPhone 6S or later can run iOS 15.4.

New features brought to iOS 15.4 include the option to use Face ID while wearing a mask, 112 new emojis, and the option to accept credit card payments without additional hardware.

Some of the other features that are present in iOS 15.4 include:

• Security notification when connecting AirTag

• New Siri voice and option to ask for time and date when offline

• Option to scan text to file in Notes app

• Additional SharePlay integration that allows users to share songs and other content via FaceTime.

For updates iOS 15.4 on the iPhone it’s easy, namely:

• Open the Settings app or Settings

• Tap the General or General option

• Tap the Software Update or Software Update option

• If the option to download iOS 15.4 appears, tap Download and Install

• Wait until the process is complete

After the iOS 15.4 installation process is complete, you can immediately activate the option to use FaceID with a mask. But it should be noted that this feature is only available for iPhone 12 and iPhone 13.

Here’s how to activate Face ID on iPhone while wearing a mask:

• After finished installing iOS 15.4you will see a notification to activate the Face ID With a Mask feature

• If you initially chose to activate this feature later, go to Settings > Face ID and Passwords > Use Face ID With a Mask to return to the activation page and activate it

• Follow the instructions on the screen to register Face ID so that it can be used when wearing a mask

• If you are wearing glasses in the first scan, iOS will ask you to remove your glasses in the second scan

• If you are not wearing glasses during the setup process, you can add a face with glasses by tapping the Add Glasses button after Face ID is activated.
