iOS 14 removed the “Shooting Star” effect in the Messages app ????

A reader pointed out to us that one of the visual screen effects is missing in the Messages app in iOS 14. As a reminder, Apple’s instant messaging allows you to send messages with a screen effect. from iOS 10 by long pressing the send arrow. You may then see a selection of effects that apply to the message alone or to the entire screen of your recipient’s iPhone or iPad.

This nice feature has however lost one of the effects in iOS 14. The “shooting star” mode that was offered in iOS 13 and earlier is no longer available. Its removal looks like a bug, this is the only missing effect and if we send it from iOS 13, it appears correctly on iOS 14 and even on macOS Big Sur.

The “shooting star” screen effect that disappeared with iOS 14.

The current betas of iOS 14.4 or macOS 11.2 do not restore this effect, but maybe it will come later. All the other effects are still present, the four message and the remaining eight for the screen.
