A new bug in iOS 14 ensures that users no longer receive notifications when they receive a message. In addition to iMessages, Facebook, WhatsApp and Signal messages are also affected.
Users do not receive a pop-up notice and the red label on the app is also missing. There are also reports of missing messages in group chats. Messages sent by Android users should not appear.
Macrumors reported the problem a month ago. It is said to have affected newer models first. Now users with older models are also reporting the problem. The Support entry in the Apple forum is now 46 pages long.
No workaround
There is no universal workaround. Some users activated the “Do Not Disturb” function as soon as the iPhone was locked. This can be deactivated under Settings> “Mute”. Others have forced the app to exit after each message sent.
Bad news for everyone affected by the bug is that the problem will probably not be resolved with the new iOS version 14.3. As The Verge reported, the bug also occurs with the first testers of the new update.
