Ioniq is a model that in 2016 broke through Hyundai’s path to electrification and electromobility. The crossover with hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric system will give its name to the complete division of future electric cars. The brand announced this in a press release on Monday.

As in the case of the ID division at Volkswagen, Ioniq cars will be electric cars with an emphasis on online connectivity, driving assistance elements and other modern phenomena.

Hyundai has already indicated the first model offensive of the Ioniq brand, and will use numbers for the names of its models. The first will be a medium-sized SUV with the number 5, which will be introduced at the beginning of 2021. It is inspired by the “45” concept, which premiered at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2019.

In 2022, a sedan marked “6” will arrive, derived from the Prophecy concept, presented in March. Ioniq 7, a large SUV, will follow in early 2024. All these innovations from Ioniqu will use the modular platform for E-GMP electric cars.
