TASS, 13 July. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will send invitations to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris on July 26 to 203 National Olympic Committees (NOCs), the Russian Olympic Committee and the NOC of Belarus are not included in this number. This was announced on Thursday by the press service of the IOC.

Also, the IOC will not send invitations to the Olympics to the NOC of Guatemala, suspended since September 2022.

The IOC noted that the final decision on the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes will be made by the organization “at the appropriate time.”

The IOC on March 28 recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes be allowed to participate in international competitions only as neutral athletes, and only those who have not publicly spoken out in support of a special military operation and are not associated with the armed forces or national security agencies. The IOC’s proposals are advisory in nature and do not apply to the upcoming Olympic Games. The criteria for the admission of Russians should be determined by international sports federations.
