INVITES to donate food to animal shelters

In order to support our four-legged friends who live in shelters in different regions of Latvia, Rimi together with Mars Latvia is implementing the charity campaign “Buy, donate, feed” for the sixth time. Within the framework of it, from November 19 to December 14, every resident is invited to support the animals living in the shelters by purchasing and donating animal feed and other products suitable for pets in Rimi stores throughout Latvia.

Currently, several hundred dogs and cats live in Latvian shelters. 25-50 kg of feed is needed daily to feed the residents of only one shelter.

“Like humans, the well-being of four-legged friends is often affected by a daily meal. But sometimes not all animal shelter residents have the opportunity to receive a variety of meals, including some delicacies or even canned food. So I urge every Rimi customer to remember about paws and supplement our daily purchases with animal feed or other pet-friendly goods by placing them in special promotions in donation boxes in Rimi stores. Our team wishes to donate these donations to 14 shelters throughout Latvia, “Rimi Latvia invites you to participate in the campaign” Buy, donate, feed ” public relations manager Regīna Ikala.

Supporters of the campaign are invited to buy the necessary products for animals and place them in “Buy, donate, feed” donation boxes in 125 Rimi stores throughout Latvia. In addition to donations from buyers, the organizers of the campaign – Rimi Latvia and Mars Latvia – will donate several tons of feed and sand to support the four-legged shelter residents.

A study by the international company Mars shows that the restrictions imposed by Covid-19 have encouraged people around the world to pay more and more attention to their pets. It is pets that have helped many to improve their mood during this time. “The demands of social distancing and self-isolation during the pandemic have motivated many people around the world to take more care of their pets. However, we believe it is very important to remember that animals that do not have their own homes also need care and, most importantly, food. even in an emergency, we continue to help animals and together with our partner Rimi we call on everyone to make the lives of animals in shelters better, “says Skaiste Sruogaite, Mars Corporate Communications Director in the Baltics, Balkans and Adriatic, Ukraine and Israel.

In the previous campaign in January of this year, Rimi buyers donated almost 15 tons of animal feed, thus helping 712 cats and 522 dogs in 11 animal shelters in Riga, Jelgava, Tukums, Jekabpils, Daugavpils, Aluksne, Saldus, Liepaja, Ogre and Ventspils.
