Invitation to the virtual future climate conference – Berlin.de

On November 24th, the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family and the Planetarium Berlin Foundation invite you to the second climate conference for Berlin schoolchildren. Together with representatives from science and civil society, pupils will discuss the question of how the issues of climate protection and climate change can be brought even more into the classroom and into school as a whole. This also involves planning specific climate protection projects, for example through the conclusion of binding climate agreements. Pupils from the different schools also have the opportunity to exchange ideas and network. Sandra Scheeres, Senator for Education, Youth and Family, will speak a greeting around 9:10 a.m.

Due to the current measures to protect against infection, the future climate conference cannot take place as a face-to-face event this year. The conference will therefore take place as an innovative format of a spatially and temporally decentralized digital event. In various digital rooms, schoolchildren can take part in lectures and workshops, discuss them and develop specific project ideas. The offers are not only available on the day of the conference itself, but will continue to be offered to all learning groups in Berlin until the end of the year.

In addition, the future climate conference can also be followed on the YouTube channel of the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family: www.youtube.com/senbjf

The conference is organized by the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family and the Planetarium Berlin Foundation with the extensive participation of schoolchildren in cooperation with the Contact Point for Environment and Development (KATE) e. The conference is also supported by a broad alliance of scientists, civil society associations and initiatives, as well as actors from schools and administration.
