Morelia, Michoacán, July 24, 2023.- The Secretary of Culture of Michoacán (Secum) invites the conference Live the Pictorial Heritage of the Museum of Colonial Art, by Dr. Hugo Armando Félix Rocha, which will be held this Thursday, July 27 at 6:00 p.m., in the cultural venue.
The technical and artistic part of the eighteenth century canvases that are part of the Museum of Colonial Art will be addressed, highlighting from this collection some oil paintings that represent the life of Jesus Christ, and that can be attributed to local painters. In addition, there will be talk of three pictorial works of the enclosure that are signed by the famous New Spain, Miguel Cabrera.
Félix Rocha has publications on both colonial art and its protection. He has a doctorate in History from the Colegio de Michoacán and has been a scholarship holder from the Spanish Minister of Culture, as well as from other institutions in the same country and the United States.
Currently, he teaches the degree in Restoration of Movable Goods at the School of Conservation and Restoration of the West, teaches the History of Cultural Heritage course and serves as an advisor to the seminars on Restoration of Easel Painting and Restoration of Metals, in Guadalajara, Jalisco.
The conference will begin on Thursday, July 27 at 6:00 p.m. at the Museum of Colonial Art, an enclosure that is located at 240 Benito Juárez Street in the Historic Center of the state capital.
