President Ivan Duque announced Thursday that Invima authorized the emergency use of the Janssen vaccine, from the pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson, which only needs one dose.
The first biologics are expected to arrive in May.

“With this we also hope that the massive supplies of this pharmaceutical company that were planned for the month of May will be fulfilled in their entirety,” said the president.
Julio César Aldana, director of Invima, added that this vaccine is the only one that has a single dose in its application, its storage conditions are not very demanding, as it requires refrigeration between 2 to 8 degrees Celsius, and “It is one of the few vaccines that has developed clinical trials in Colombia in more than 5,800 volunteers from different clinical institutions.”
The country acquired with Janssen 9 million doses for 9 million people.
Likewise, Duque assured that the Government set a new goal and that is that on April 17 there will be 3 million vaccinated in the country.
“We like to work with specific goals in the National Vaccination Plan and one goal is that we have defined today that our goal is to reach 3 million vaccinated by April 17,” said the President.

In this sense, the president asked that during this weekend and that “Let’s make Easter a week of vaccination, a week of life“added the Head of State.
For his part, the Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz placeholder image He warned that they expect to have 7,900,000 vaccinations in the country in April.
The head of the Health portfolio also referred to the controversy over the doses that the Government has not delivered to the territorial entities and pointed out that a percentage is reserved for people who must apply the second dose.
