Confidence is returning to Senegal as the country comes out of its period of resilience to COVID-19, Senegalese Minister of Tourism and Air Transport Alioune Sarr assured Wednesday.
“As we come out of the period of resilience to COVID-19, confidence is returning in Senegal, around the Head of State,” said the minister upon leaving the hearing with President Macky Sall who received the Senegalese-American singer Alioune Badara Thiam alias Akon.
The singer, established in the United States, came to present to the Senegalese president the model of his project “Akon City”, whose site is located in Mbodiène, in the department of Mbour.
The singer also plans to build parks, universities, a sports complex and a stadium there by 2029.
“It is a response from the national private sector of the diaspora to the call of the Head of State to return to invest in Senegal in the tourism and air transport sector. This project is one of the flagship actions of the Emerging Senegal Plan ( PSE) “, said the Minister of Tourism and Air Transport.
“It will make our country a benchmark destination in terms of tourism and the creation of cinematographic value, and a center for job creation,” he said.
