According to the Danish the newspaper Jutland Vestkysten the Norwegian investor Christian Eidem is linked with an acquisition of the Danish football club Esbjerg fB. However, the Norwegian’s advances towards the club are said to have been flatly rejected.
The newspaper claims that the Norwegian, together with Danish Lars Boilesen, is trying to take over the club from the current American owners, without financial compensation.
Esbjerg fB is a big club in Denmark, but has struggled recently and fallen down the division system. The club has won the Danish Superliga five times, most recently in 1979. The club has also won three cup championships and went top as recently as 2013.

Chairman of the board in Esbjerg, Michael Kalt, confirms to Jydske Vestkysten that an offer has been rejected.
– They wanted us to give up our shares for free. So for me it is obvious why we said no, he says.
Kalt further points out that the interest from Eidem and Boilesen is the only thing that has reminded of a local interest in taking over the club.

– I would like to repeat that if there are local forces that want to support the club, with or without our help, then we are open to it. We don’t want to hold the club hostage if someone puts in an offer that makes sense for both parties, he says.
Jutland Vestkysten has also been in contact with Eidem and his possible partner Boilesen about a possible acquisition.
They say that they have not submitted an official bid, but that further discussions may become relevant.

The newspaper further claims that the two investors should be worth several hundred million kroner and thus have financial muscle.
Former agent
Eidem is, among other things, a former football agent and thus has several years of experience from the football industry. Boilesen, on the other hand, is general manager at the Norwegian IT giant Otello. The two are said to have studied together and have also previously collaborated in business.
Boilesen grew up in Esbjerg and thus has a local anchorage there, while Norwegian Eidem is also linked to the club. His uncle, Egon Skou, is said to have been chairman of the Danish club in the period 1964-1970, according to Jydske Vestkysten.

Eidem has, among other things, been an agent for former Tottenham player Steffen Iversen and an adviser for former Manchester United player Ronny Johnsen.
Esbjerg fB currently plays in the Danish 2nd division after the club was relegated after last season.
Among the high-profile players who have visited the club is Peter Ankersen, who played for Rosenborg in 2012. Former Barcelona player Martin Braitwaite was brought up in the club’s academy and the Dutch great player Rafael van der Vaart visited the club for a short period in 2018.
