It was nice to meet up with many former colleagues and partners a couple of weeks ago Baltic Capital Markets Conference and discuss the development of the Latvian and Baltic fund market. Although the progress so far, especially in Latvia, could have been more impressive (since I used to manage the public assets manager Possessor, I am one of the “lawyers” of the listing of state and municipal capital companies), private issuers are starting to use the financial market more and more as a source of funding.
One such example, in which I myself decided to make a small contribution, is APF. I have been working in the field of finance and management for several years and have accumulated some experience with the valuation of companies, but this investment also brings me emotional comfort. After all, long-awaited private investors in the stock market (I am one of them) make decisions not only with their heads, but also with their hearts.
But coming back to the company itself, why did I decide to invest? Today, sustainable poultry farming and food production is a technologically complex and responsible process, but I would like to hope that most people understand the “chicken and the egg”. I am confident about the continued demand for eggs as an important nutritional product. APF I was also approached with his ambition and commitment to increase the production of eggs from barnyard hens. I choose these eggs or eggs from free-range chickens as my consumption. Another reason why I made this investment is the planned doubling of sales by strengthening the domestic market and developing exports.
At the front of any company are people and a management team. I was lucky to work together with APF management team Hermanis Dovgijs and the largest shareholder Jurijs Adamovičs in several restructuring projects of problematic companies. I can see that this experience has helped turn APF into a successful and fast-growing business over the past five years. As a future (hopefully I will receive the requested amount of shares) minority shareholder, I highly appreciate the independent board members Uldis Iltners, Eva Berlaus. These people create confidence in the ability to take care of fair and transparent management and the implementation of the ambitious strategy.
In conclusion – investing in a Latvian company that places shares on the Latvian stock market “feels like the right thing to do”. It promises to be an exciting journey for me both as a professional and as an individual. Let’s continue to follow this project and create a future success story together!
