Investigative Committee of Russia opens cases against 160 foreign mercenaries fighting for Ukraine

Russian investigators opened cases against 160 people from 33 countries fighting on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is stated in the press release of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

It is specified that evidence of the participation of mercenaries was collected in cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Defense and other services. It is reported that persons from Georgia, the USA, Latvia, Sweden and other states appear in the case.

At the end of May, the UK reported that more than two thousand citizens of other states were fighting on the side of Ukraine. The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that as of November 2022, more than eight thousand people from six dozen states had joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
