As noted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the investigation should check for any miscalculations at the stages of design, construction and operation of the subway. And also to identify the responsible persons, due to whose actions or inactions the depressurization and flooding of the metro tunnel occurred.

Closing of the metro in Kyiv

Train traffic between the Demeevskaya and Teremki metro stations (6 stations in total) in Kyiv was closed on December 8 while the transport tunnel was being repaired. The restrictions will last for six months. It was originally planned that these subway stations would stop operating from Saturday, December 9th. Earlier, RBC-Ukraine wrote how to get to Lybidskaya from Teremki by alternative means.

Let us remind you that the distillation tunnels between the Demeevskaya and Lybidskaya stations were built in the floodplain of the Lybid River in 2008-2010 by underground method in difficult mining and geological conditions, with artificial water reduction. Therefore, stopping train traffic on this section of the metro line is a forced step in order to avoid an emergency situation.
