In Dresden, early corona vaccinations for police officers are now a case for the public prosecutor. As the authority announced on Thursday, a criminal complaint has been received with the charge of accepting benefits and embezzlement. Since no officials were named in it, unknown persons are currently being investigated.

Vaccine shouldn’t expire
According to the Dresden Police Department, almost 400 of their police officers had been vaccinated earlier than planned by early February. The doses were therefore offered to the authorities at short notice by the German Red Cross on several days in order to save the vaccine from decay. They then sent patrol officers to the vaccination center. According to the DRK, the vaccination doses were superfluous because there was an error in the booking system.

Not the first case
Investigations had already been initiated in the Erzgebirge district into taking advantage of District Administrator Frank Vogel. In February it became known that the CDU politician had received a corona vaccination, although he does not belong to the population group with the highest priority.
