Investigations against lawyer – Mannheimer Morgen

Kassel. The Kassel public prosecutor’s office is now investigating lawyer Frank Hannig because of a presumably fabricated confession by the main defendant in the murder case Walter Lübcke. The murder of the North Hessian District President Walter Lübcke is currently being tried in the Frankfurt Higher Regional Court. Hannig had defended the suspect Stefan E. there until July and is said to have invented parts of a confession for him. A spokesman for the authorities confirmed that proceedings were initiated against a former defense attorney because of the initial suspicion of inciting false suspicion.

Right-wing extremism as a motive

E. is accused of having shot Lübcke in June 2019. The federal prosecutor assumes a right-wing extremist motive. E. had made various confessions about the act. In one, he accused co-defendant Markus H. of having fired the shot. He later revoked that. He accuses Hannig of having pushed him to make the wrong statement. The main defendant had separated from the public defender in the course of the trial, the relationship of trust had broken.

Hannig’s lawyer Alfred Dierlamm said of the proceedings that have now been initiated: “We have already contacted the Kassel public prosecutor and have offered to cooperate in clarifying the facts.” The verdict is expected to fall on December 1st. you
