Authorities are investigating a shooting that left a 17-year-old boy injured in Chelsea, Massachusetts on Friday night.
The incident was reported around 7 p.m. and took place in the back of Home Depot, Chelsea Police Chief Keith Houghton said. Neighbors in the area later told Telemundo New England that the shooting occurred in a building part of the projects located at the number Parkway Ct.
The officer said the young man was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses told Telemundo New England that a group of young people were gathered outside a building when an armed man approached and shot only one of them.
“My neighbor was throwing out the trash, she says she already came in, knocked down the door of the house and heard the gunshot go off, that could have caught her because she came up here from there and she lives across the street from where they put the line. the yellow tape,” said a witness to the incident.
Chief Houghton said the incident was not random and officers are actively working the area to search for suspects.
