Investigation Underway After Appearance of Russian Mercenary Group “Wagner” Stickers in Kraków, Poland

Police in Poland are investigating the appearance in Kraków of stickers trying to recruit people to the Russian mercenary group “Wagner”.

Residents in several neighborhoods of Krakow in southern Poland have noticed A5-sized stickers, local police said on Saturday.

The stickers show the “Wagner” logo with the inscription “We are here. Join us” in English. The square code on the sticker leads to a recruitment site for a mercenary gang, according to police.

“We don’t know if the sticker campaign is a joke or if something more serious is going on,” said a Krakow police spokeswoman.

She confirmed that the prosecutor’s office has been informed about the incident and the police are trying to identify the culprits.

In Poland, recruitment into foreign armies and mercenary groups, as well as service in such organizations, is prohibited by law. Perpetrators face up to five years in prison.

Anxiety has grown in Poland since a group led by Yevgeny Prigozhin set up a camp in Belarus where mercenaries were allowed to stay after a failed coup attempt in Russia.

The Belarusian regime insists that “Wagner” fighters train the Belarusian army.
