The French public prosecutor has opened an investigation against football player Wissam Ben Yedder, who is accused of rape. The incident is said to have occurred last Monday in the town of Beausoleil north of Monaco. The Frenchman Ben Yedder (32) is under contract with AS Monaco.
The public prosecutor in Nice confirmed to the AFP news agency “that there are two charges of rape, of two victims, against two people”. “We don’t know who the second person accused is,” he said.
AS Monaco has stated in a response that the club is “aware of the information published today about Wissam Ben Yedder”. “As long as the matter is being dealt with in a judicial process, the club is not in a position to comment.”
The 32-year-old Ben Yedder has been playing for AS Monaco since 2019, which took him over from Sevilla at the time.
