Investigation of all employees of the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs… Including Gwacheon and Ansan

LH employees’ suspicion of speculation on the land continues to cause collapse and anger to those who dream of building my own home. The government has created a joint investigation team and announced that it will investigate both LH and the Department of Homeland employees by next week. The survey area was also increased to 8 in total, including the 3rd new city, Gwacheon and Ansan.

A day after President Moon Jae-in ordered a full investigation of allegations of land speculation in the third new city, a joint government investigation team was launched.

The Ministry of Land, Transport and Security, and the National Police Agency, led by the Prime Minister’s Office, decided to complete the investigation by next week and announce the results.

The primary survey targets are LH and all employees of the Department of Land.

Officials in charge of local governments such as Gyeonggi-do and Incheon, as well as executives and employees of public corporations are also subject to the survey.

The area to be investigated has also been expanded.

The existing 6 new towns in the 3rd phase included Gwacheon and Ansan Jangsang districts, which are residential sites of over 1 million square meters.

Homeland Minister Byeon Chang-heum, a former LH president, bowed his head for the first time since this incident.

Minister Byeon said that despite this controversy, the existing housing supply measures, such as the 2nd and 4th supply measures, will be implemented without a hitch.

However, if the government’s full investigation reveals the substance of the speculation suspicion, negative public opinion about policies involving LH, the origin of the crisis, is likely to grow.
