Police in Rio de Janeiro have launched an investigation into the actions of the organization of Taylor Swift’s concert, which resulted in a death last week.
It will be investigated whether entertainment company T4F is guilty of endangering human lives, the news agency reports Reuters.
T4F says it is fully cooperating with the investigation. On Thursday, the director acknowledged that mistakes had been made and that the company could have taken “alternative action”. He apologized for what happened.
Concertgoers were not allowed into the stadium with bottled water despite the extreme heat in the Brazilian city. On the day of the concert the wind chill was over 58 degrees.
The fatal victim, a 23-year-old woman, became unwell just before the start of the show. She later died on the way to the hospital. About a thousand other visitors fainted.
Due to the extreme weather, Swift postponed her next concert a day later. The police have not launched an investigation into the cause of the victim’s death.
