Plagiarizing the work of King Prajadhipok Institute
When examining Somchai’s thesis, it was found that many sections of the text were similar to other academic works on similar topics. The most prominent one is King Prajadhipok’s Institute book. “How to Get Seniors in Thailand” Written by Assistant Professor Phum Munsin and Chompoonut Tangthaworn, published in 2015, Somchai’s thesis contains more than 30 pages of the same text.
From page 38 of Somchai’s thesis, section 2.3.1, “Group One: Countries whose Senate representation is tied to territory,” to page 64, the last page of chapter two. The content matches pages 77-115 of King Prajadhipok’s Institute book on page 38 of Somchai’s thesis, he even copied the footnotes on page 77 of King Prajadhipok’s Institute book.
The copy format on page 80 of King Prajadhipok’s Institute book is not just a direct copy. There are lengthy footnotes that explain the dynamics of the executive and legislative branches in a presidential regime. Somchai’s research took all these footnotes and added them to the table of contents on pages 40-41.
Copy it all by just adding references.
As well as copying without citing the original work. It is also found in some parts of Somchai’s treatise. Referenced works are footnoted. Instead, they copied the entire text instead of summarizing the ideas and rewriting them in their own language to prevent plagiarism.
For example, on page 65 of the thesis, entitled “The Form and Construction of Members of the British Senate,” the first five lines are identical to the first section of the paper.British House of Lords” written by Panitha Pathumwat, published in 2015 in the journal Chulniti of the SW, although footnotes to Panitha’s work are included below. But the content is almost the same. Or on page 66 of the thesis, material related to the Parliament Act 1911 was copied from Panithat’s work.
It was also discovered that the material on pages 72-73 was copied from pages 117-119 of Watcharaphon Rojanawongrat’s thesis.The method of obtaining senators is according to the powers and duties of the Assembly of the Kingdom of Thailand.” published in 2017, with footnotes below. But the content is the same word for word.
Copy the iLaw work
Somchai’s thesis also includes a reference to iLaw’s work, in the article “Collection of information on 250 senators ‘Employment: the key to power since the NCPO’” which refers to the statistics of the senators appointed by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) which is made up of people who previously held positions during NCPO, with the same content every word. No new words were changed. Only the names of the elders that the article gives as an example are left out, such as Preecha Chan-ocha, Apirat Kongsampong, Pornthip Rojanasunan, Khamnoon Sittisamarn, Wanlop Tangkananurak.
