Investigation into possible malpractice at companies around Pukkelpop organizer Chokri shelved | Inland

The investigation into possible irregularities at the companies around Pukkelpop organizer Chokri Mahassine has been shelved. That is communicated by the parquet. “No crimes committed,” it sounds.

“With regard to the investigation into possible malpractice at the legal entities behind Pukkelpop, we can inform you that this investigation was recently concluded and was dismissed. After a thorough and thorough investigation, it was not possible to prove that crimes were committed,” the prosecutor said in a press release.

An investigation into the companies around Mahassine was opened last year after an article was published by the satirical website ‘t Scheldt. According to the editors of ‘t Scheldt, there was embezzlement and a conflict of interest. ‘t Scheldt accused Mahassine of pumping a financial reserve of millions of euros intended for social purposes into his own companies.

Last year, the public prosecutor emphasized the presumption of innocence. This means that the legal entities and natural persons surrounding the story were then considered innocent. “When we classify the file, we will also actively communicate this,” it was stated at the time at the Limburg public prosecutor’s office.

Pukkelpop then reacted very surprised to the investigation of the public prosecutor’s office. “Our organization has been structurally professionalized in recent years by experts in the field. We have every confidence in their professional approach and are awaiting further investigation if necessary to find out exactly what this is about. The defamatory allegations are, of course, strongly disputed,” it said.

The 35th edition of Pukkelpop will take place this year in Kiewit (Hasselt) from 18 to 21 August.
