Responsible for the investigation, police officers from the specialized organized crime division went to look for Jacqueline Mathéron at her home in mid-March, as well as another member of the Aval association. At the end of their hearing, the duo emerged free. They were both placed under the status of “assisted witness” this Thursday.
The rumor had been circulating for years in the town of Beaucaire to the west of Toulon. He said to himself that “Jacqueline Mathéron received envelopes in exchange for obtaining social housing. It has been running since 2019 and the complaint of a former member of the AVAL association (the Var association for action for tenants, which intervenes in particular in the city of Beaucaire in Toulon), created by the one that many nicknamed Jacky. After a year of investigation, the Toulon Public Prosecutor’s Office decided to dismiss the case without further action.
This was without taking into account the determination of Anticor which then filed a new complaint with the establishment of a civil party giving rise to referral to an investigating judge. It is on the basis of this new complaint that Jaqueline Mathéron was heard.not even 24 hours” according to his lawyer, Me Luca Mas.

Maître Luca Mas discusses the numerous filters put in place to obtain social housing. “My client helped residents who came to see her as part of the Aval association. In particular, she checked that the objective criteria for completing a file were met. But then, there are several filters within the social landlord before the final decision” explains the lawyer, recalling that “Jacqueline Mathéron did not have the power of final attribution. On the other hand, as an administrator, she defended the files of the residents she had helped“.
The instruction continues. “We will take advantage of this to make verification requests” concludes the lawyer who wants all light to be shed on this matter. Just like his client, convinced that “This has something to do with the next municipal elections. Every time there is an election, they stick this on my back“.
