An international research team has announced the discovery of the world’s oldest animal sperm.

Nationalgeographic.co.id—The research team announced that they had found sperm oldest animal in the world. Scientists found sperm aged 100 million years in a piece of resin that hardened when giants like Spinosaurus (the largest dinosaur of the Spinosaurida members) dominated Earth. Sperm it was found in a resin disc in a mine in Myanmar north.

Sperm The oldest of these came from a creature much smaller than the toothed Spinosaurus, namely an ostracod or ostracoda, a crustacean. Known colloquially as “seed prawns,” ostracoda typically grow to only a few tenths of an inch in length. Their bodies are protected by a scallop shell, from which small crab-like appendages sometimes protrude.

In this tiny lump of tree resin are 39 ancient ostracods in amber. The researchers also found animals of two genders, male and female. Crustaceans are believed to have originated in the Cretaceous period and were petrified after sex.
