Wainer Ayola Torres, investigated for the disappearance of his political niece Alexandrith Sarmiento Arroyo, was released by a Guarantee Control judge in concentrated hearings that lasted until 11 pm on Thursday night.
Wainer’s family confirmed the information to El Universal and said that he is already at home, in the Bayunca district.
Ayola Torres would have been released due to lack of conclusive evidence to prosecute him and because his capture would have been a bad procedure by the Prosecutor’s Office. The decision was appealed, but for now Wainer will remain free.
The man was captured on June 16 in an invasion of the Bayunca township, near where the 16-year-old’s family lives.
The Cartagena District Mayor’s Office offers a reward of 20 million pesos for those who provide information that allows them to find the whereabouts of the minor, who disappeared on March 19 when she left with Wainer to drive a motorcycle on a secluded beach.
