CREMONA – Sweet taste? No, I’m joking. Those who are decidedly disgusting and vile. On Halloween evening, just before 8.30pm, a group of six children literally attacked Cambonino’s gymnasiumin the middle of training for the Cremonese men’s soccer team.
First the stones are thrown at the front door, so violently as to destroy the lock; then, a little later, the second attack with a fire extinguisheremptied partly on the playing field and partly on the cars parked outside the sports facility. The double attack definitely scared the volleyball team – players, coaches and managers – who were in the gym. The police intervened immediately after a call from the managers of the sports association, but when the patrols arrived – one from the police and the other from the carabinieri – the six young people had already gone out into the dark .
One of the witnesses says: “The training session of one of the Esperia teams had just finished and the Cremonese volleyball boys were busy warming up when the first shots were clearly heard, aimed at the gym door, obviously closed from the inside”. Someone from the club looked out the entrance and saw the gang members – all very young – who immediately fled. Only we returned to the ‘crime scene’ about twenty minutes later. This time with a fire extinguisher in hand.
The witness continues: “They fired the powder inside the gym, through the door, and on some of the cars parked in the square. The dust created a bit of a disturbance for the athletes, who were confused and scared. Then the stone throwing started again. The entrance went and the door went open: some of the stones fell on the playground. Then the children ran away.” Police and carabinieri collected the statements of those who, dismayed, saw the attack. Some claim that those who carried out the attack – well-known faces in the community – are no strangers to similar stunts And there are those who joke: “We had already seen them throwing stones in the middle of the ring road.”
