Intuition as an artist’s tool. Exhibition of Kaspars Zariņš in the gallery “Daugava” of the “Sixth Sense” / Article

Gallery “Daugava” resumes the life of exhibitions with the solo exhibition “Sixth Mana” by the painter Kaspars Zariņš, which reflects human intuition, innate wisdom and inner voice.

Painter and art teacher Kaspars Zariņš is convinced:

“Intuition is one of the artist ‘s main tools, without being able to paint, without reading books.

And this painting exhibition is basically my return to figurative painting, because I had become abstract for a while, and that’s because I wanted to paint people in the figure again so that the viewer could feel like he knew him. But I have painted absolutely no one as a prototype from nature, I observe nature, but I do not paint from nature. It’s my challenge to show human psychology, the language of the human body. “

For the third time, the artist has focused on the theme of the “Holy Supper”, the work was created during the Ukrainian war. “The last major work, unlike the others that are small, is the Holy Communion, or ‘The Last Supper,’ which would be more precise, in which I do not deal with the problems of a religious nature, but I deal with the concept of discussion. I believe that when this “Last Supper” and now nothing has changed, people always think about the meaning of life, about the relationship and the “Holy Supper” is a story of betrayal, of love, of all noble and ideologically full things. [..] And in some other works like “A Painful Heart,” I tried to touch my understanding of this war that Ukraine has started. “

The paintings created during the last two years show a return to Kaspars Zariņš’s favorite character Pedanta, who was originally his another self, but over time became a symbol of all creative activity. For one of the works entitled “The Unknown Path”, the artist says: “This is what, in my opinion, makes the artist develop, that he definitely has to reach the limit where it is difficult for him to go further or he does not know where to go. a concept like self-development, and in this case, my figure is essentially a reflection of my inner ego, which was already unfolding for me 10-15 years ago through the image of Pedant. [..] Of course, as always, I am interested in color, color as substance, color as content.

I want to look for something unprecedented with my color, but at the same time I try to touch the human mind through him, to touch his senses and to awaken in him the desire for the spiritual, for the intuitive, for all that is not directly visible. “

Catch the world with the “Sixth Sense” exhibition, spectators are welcome until June 11.
