Continuing to implement the strategic decision to narrow its geographical presence in order to simplify and focus its operations, Europe’s leading credit management company “Intrum” has decided to stop operations in the Baltics, company representatives inform.

100% of the capital shares of SIA “Intrum Latvia”, AS “Intrum Estonia” and UAB “Intrum Lietuva”, including customer service platforms and investment portfolios, were purchased by one of the largest players in the debt recovery and debt purchase market in the Baltics – Aktiva Finance Group. It is expected that in Latvia and Estonia the transaction will be fully concluded in the third quarter of this year, and in Lithuania – in the fourth quarter of this year.
The acquisition of “Intrum” operations in the Baltics is in line with our strategy to create a successful Baltic-wide financial infrastructure group. We believe this is a necessary step for our future vision and I am confident that Intrum customers will continue to receive a high level of customer experience and appreciate a wider range of value-added services, which “Aktiva Finance Group” already offers today, says the chairman of the board of “Aktiva Finance Group” Ülars Maapalu.
This decision follows the previously announced withdrawal from the Brazilian market, reducing the total number of jurisdictions from 25 to 21.
“Reducing the number of jurisdictions allows us to focus our resources on our strategic and select tactical markets. Our ambition is to create a more focused organization, focusing on markets where we can achieve leadership in both client service and portfolio acquisition, creating the basis for greater commercial success and profitability,” says “Intrum” president Andrés Rubio.
“Intrum Global technologies” company of the “Intrum” group will continue to operate in Latvia, while “Intrum Global Business Services” will continue to operate in Lithuania, which provides IT and shared services support to all group companies.
