Summary trial: Cases in Sessions Court will be reduced by 40 percent
Magistrates can conduct a summary trial for speedy disposal of minor offenses punishable by up to three years (earlier two years) without a detailed hearing. The government says that with such trials in less serious crimes, the number of cases in the sessions courts will decrease by 40 percent.
