A truly unusual laptop will soon be on sale in China. His name is Yunguai REV-9 and it is a workstation that is definitely not some lightweight, easily portable device. This “beast” measures 420×325×46 mm, which you can imagine as two 500-piece packs of office papers next to each other. The secret to these insane dimensions lies in what’s inside the laptop. The manufacturer allegedly stuffed a 64-core AMD EPYC 7713 (Zen 3 architecture) or EPYC 9554 (Zen 4) server processor here. It is worth noting here that the first processor is intended for the SP3 socket, while the second one is for the SP5. It is strange that the manufacturer decided to offer one laptop in versions with two different sockets. Recall that the EPYC 7713 has a configurable TDP from 225 to 240 W, the EPYC 9554 even from 320 to 400 W.
In addition, we have an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card here, but it is not clear in what form this card is installed (for example, whether it is a desktop card with a smaller cooler and different graphics outputs). The company claims that the graphics are 15% more powerful than the mobile RTX 4090, which would suggest something like that, and it also says that it will be possible to upgrade to the RTX 4080 Super. The cooling is water, so we also find a water pump here. We have a 17.3″ display with a 2.5K resolution, 240Hz refresh rate and 100% coverage of the sRGB space, but it will also be possible to get it with a 4K display and a 120Hz frequency. We do not know the price and, unfortunately, neither the weight, which will certainly not be low.
