Introducing the Suzuki eVitara: A Game-Changer in Electric SUVs from Toyota and Suzuki

According to a press release, the eVitara marks a milestone for the automaker, which until now has been without electric models.

And last week, Toyota and Suzuki officially confirmed that it is the same car, which will be produced at both factories. Toyota will bring its version closer to Christmas.

The two automakers have long cooperated, and in addition, Toyota owns 4.9% of Suzuki, and Suzuki owns 0.2% of Toyota.

We know that Toyota has previously licensed Suzuki to Toyota models in Europe, and Suzuki models in other parts of the world have been given the Toyota logo. The most famous example is the Toyota RAV4, which is also sold as the Suzuki Across here at home.

Suzuki eVitarable was launched in Milan this week. The eVitara is based on the eVX concept car, which was presented at the 2023 Rokya Motor Show.

The Suzuki Vitara was launched in Norway in 1988 and since then more than 25,000 copies have been sold here at home. Now the Vitara legacy is being continued with an electric powertrain.

With dimensions of 4,275 mm length, 1,800 mm width and 1,635 mm height, the eVitara is comparable in size to the current Suzuki Vitara, and comes with the brand’s famous all-wheel drive. The car has two battery options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh, where only the 61 kWh version with four-wheel drive will be available in Norway.

– This is a car we have been waiting for a long time, and we know that many Norwegians have been looking forward to an electric SUV with Suzuki four-wheel drive. The interest among Norwegian customers has been huge, and we are looking forward to the launch, says Lars Havre, sales manager at Suzuki Norway.
